If you missed this meeting, you missed a visit from Joe Barnhart of Roos
Instruments, Inc. Joe demostrated his OS/2 software for RF testing that was
written in SmallTalk. Joe is on this list, so thanks for a great demo!

I'm hoping that by next month eCS 2.0 will be released, but since I do not know
what isn't there, and I have also heard the troubling news that there are new
features since rc 7, I'm not betting money that it will happen.

Still, I'm hoping to have some more programming demos. I showed the QT
designer, although I cannot yet compile examples with it. I didn't show the
OpenOffice.org Basic language used for scripting. This is like VBA, in that
it's still crummy old Basic, but it has an object-oriented access to every
feature in the office suite.

Joe spoke highly of Python, so if we get Joe back, I'm certain we'll have some
time for a Python demo.

See you next month,
Neil
