Then you can bring it to a meeting and we will figure out who will store all the stuff. Some of it will be treasure, and some not so much, but I'd hate to just let it get soaked in the rain. best regards, Neil on Tue, 30 Sep 2008 16:21:31 -0700 (GMT-07:00), rweaver at ix.netcom.com wrote: > Put 4 boxes of OS/2 stuff (software, IBM Red books, IBM technical library, > magazines, books) on my front porch. A little software, a few IBM technical library manuals (not stored very well, some are slightly crushed). I think it's almost all duplicates of stuff you already have. Hardly worth your picking up. So I added some bait! A second box has a 3363 WORM drive and a 6157 tape drive. My recollection is that I have a few media for the WORM drive, not sure if they are in that box or not. Should I find them later I'll let you know. In addition, on my porch there is a table and on the table are usually labeled "FREE" items. Whoever is picking up the OS/2 stuff can always take whatever "FREE" items they want (they can't take other labeled items - those are committed to other people). The WORM drive and tape drive are the most unique PS/2 things I have, just ordinary stuff from here on. btw, I'm only checking email about once a week, phone is currently the best way to contact me (and I'm not real prompt about listening to phone messages). For bait this time there is a model 65. It's power supply has failed (The supply in my m80 had failed and I moved the 65's supply over to the m80 where it also failed - seems I'm a slow learner) but repairing power supplies is a common not difficult electrical task. I didn't look to see if there was a hard drive in the machine or not. I don't recall every actually using the m65, nor do I recall removing the drive but you never know. If the drive is missing, let me know. Tell whoever picks this up (if you can find someone) that the m65 is in a black garbage bag and that if they look inside the top they will find a handle that extends the full length of the machine, making it easy (if 40lbs or so is easy) to handle. btw, I really think this is the last document/software box. From now on, it's only hardware. And there are few things labeled "free" if they want them. Last time I looked in the "free" box, a neighbor had left a "Baywatch" dvd. dick w Found a print of this article in my files, just do a Google search for "Notes on repair of PS/2 Model 8580 Power Supply" (Just tried it, still works). dick w -- Neil Waldhauer, neil at blondeguy.com In the United States, anybody can be president.
